Heather was in a happy mood today. She was receptive to a walk around the corner and a stroll in the back garden. It marked a promising start to the day.
While it had been a month since Heather was willing to even look at art materials, I decided test the waters. I handed Heather a sketch pad and a few markers, one at a time. She looked at me with a smile and began creating. Red dots first, followed by overlapping lines of yellow and blue. A touch of pink at the base of the lines, accented with a red outline — and voilà!
As Heather continued, repetitively drawing the same lines until the marker ink nearly wore through the paper, I reflected on a research article I had read. It suggested that individuals with Frontotemporal dementia often exhibit perseverative behaviors, perhaps like today’s artistic endeavour.
I’m curious and a bit anxious to see what next week will bring.
Looks like a bird 🐦 💜
Good observation Kate…an exotic bird.
